    The following classifications apply to Ontario. If a Provincial rating is not available, FilmCan will display the MPAA provided rating for the film.

    G General Appropriate for viewing by a person of any age.
    • infrequent use of mild profanity such as darn, damn, hell
    • restrained, portrayals of limited violence which may result in extremely limited limited blood-letting
    • non-sexual nudity with no close-ups
    • limited embracing, kissing in a loving context
    • brief moments of mild horror in comedic, historic, or fantasy settings
    • sensitive to treatments of scenes or situations related to a child's sense of security and wellbeing
    PG Parental Guidance Every parent should exercise discretion in permitting a child to view.
    • use of expletives, and/or limited slurs; mild sexual references
    • restrained portrayal of non-graphic violence, integral to the plot. The portrayals are not prolonged; there are no close-ups; bloodletting and/or tissue damage is limited.
    • brief nudity in a non-sexual context, non-exploitive close-up
    • embracing, kissing; mild sexual innuendo
    • exciting horror scenes and some grotesque images may be allowed in a fantasy or comedif context, but there will be no detailed and/or prolonged focus on gory images or suffering
    • sensitive to treatments of scenes and situatinos that may cause adveres psychological impact on children. May include frightening or emotionally upsetting situations involving threats, injury, illness, family problems, or death to young people, family members, and animals (particularily pets)
    14A Adult Accompaniment Viewing should be restricted to persons 14 years of age or older or to persons younger than 14 who are accompanied by an adult.
    • coarse language and/or slurs directed to specifics segments of society; sexual references and/or infrequent strong, aggressive language
    • portrayals of graphic violence resulting in blood-letting and/or tissue damage which may or may not be fatal.
    • nudity in a brief sexual situation
    • fondling, implied sexual activity, and sexual innuendo
    • occaisional gory moments and some grotesque images, but these will not be detailed
    • occaisional upsetting scenes that will tend to be more frightening, intense, disturbing - particularily to younger viewers.
    • threats with some abusive dialogue may be considered for classification
    18A Restricted Adult Accompaniment Viewing should be restricted to persons 18 years of age or older or to persons younger than 18 who are accompanied by an adult.
    • no restriction on amount or type of coarse language used
    • visually explicit portrayals of violence which may be characterized by extreme brutality, extreme bloodletting, and extreme tissue damage. May include torture, horror, and/or sexual violence
    • full frontal nudity in a sexual situation
    • simulated sexual activity
    • horrific themes, incidents and images will have a more prolonged or graphic focus
    • scenes and situations may cause extreme adverse psychological impact. May involve intense and compelling teerror, acts of degradatino, threats of violence, and continuous acts of violence; situations could be accompanied by coarse, abusive, and degrading dialogue
